About the project.

In order to drive progress through creativity, and support our community at this difficult time, we want to provide the global industry with the opportunity to learn and network throughout June and beyond. For the first time in nearly 70 years, we are unable to bring the industry together in one physical place in June. Lions Live: Creativity Matters will provide a virtual platform for the industry to collaborate, learn and problem-solve, because now more than ever, creativity really does matter.

We don’t know what the future holds. So, we’re bringing the global creative community together to figure it out. LIONS Live is a forum for new thinking. It’s a meeting of minds. It’s a chance for us to think about what’s next. 40+ hours of original thinking, expert perspectives on what’s next, masterclasses and beautifully produced short films brought to you by the world’s greatest creative minds.

Lions Live will comprise masterclasses and hangouts with creative industry legends, lectures from experts, talks from speakers confirmed for the Festival, and a selection of the most impactful professional classes and learning modules from the world of creativity, effectiveness and marketing.

Challenge.

After 70 year and because of the COVID Pandemic, Cannes Lions need to find a way to create a digital platform to offer our big community the chance to enjoy, for a week, the most amazing Creative content around the world.

We have a total of 3 months to work together Designers, Content, Marketing teams to develop a plan and create this digital platform taking into consideration a few key points: 

  • This is the first time CANNES LIONS FESTIVAL will move to the Digital format, but we want to create something that will give us the chance to incorporate this digital option to any future festivals, make this event more inclusive
  • We need to work together to create this platform using the new WFH approach, so we need to find the way to have meetings, workshops and test a product across different time zones, teams and hit our deadline
  • We need a platform that will give us the chance to stream masterclasses, lectures, talks and give the chance to people to visualise this content at any time 
  • User will have the chance to create personal profiles to have access to the biggest Creative Network in the world and connect with experts from different countries and industries
  • All content will be FREE and that will drive a big number of visitors so we need to be sure to have all the necessary tech in our side to cover this and more

Solution.

After multiple meetings and discussions with different teams, and having a better idea about what we need to accomplish for this special LIVE event, we decided to move forward and starting working on:

  • Create a new website to have access to the Festival, Awards, Winners directory and general content related to campaigns and more
  • Create a new web navigation and content navigation for any live or on demand content from the Festival
  • Implement a schedule for the 5 days of the festival 
  • Show speakers profiles and content related to each of them
  • Implement different solutions to facilitate the interaction with end users on Live events
  • We are also looking to introduce our new LIONS Membership and all benefits for our community
  • Try to test and work on any amends before the 90 days of our deadline
